Adrien Sgandurra (FR) is born in 1993. After studying film theory at the University of Montreal, he graduated from ÉCAL (Lausanne) in 2019. Through video, photography and archives he explores the new technologies, the artificial intelligence, the Big Data and questions the notions of progress and civilization. He puts these new advances into perspective with the human and primitive, particularly by taking an interest in archaeology. By observing flows and interactions, he documents the alteration of the landscape and the world that results from it. Applying the duality between nature and culture enables him to better understand what defines Man.

Adrien Sgandurra (FR) est né en 1993. Après avoir fait des études cinématographiques à l’Université de Montréal, il a été diplômé de l’ÉCAL (Lausanne) en 2019. Par la vidéo, la photographie et l’archive il explore les nouvelles technologies, l’intelligence artificielle, le Big Data et questionne les notions de progrès et de civilisation. Il met en perspective ces nouvelles avancées avec l’humain, le primitif, notamment en s’intéressant à l’archéologie. En observant les flux et les interactions, il documente l’altération du paysage et du monde qui en découle. Appliquer la dualité entre nature et culture lui permet de mieux appréhender ce qui définit l’Homme.
Seiyō no me – 2016

More than a confrontation, Seiyō no me presents a dialogue between the representation of a culture and its actual discovery. Japan has a strong identity, the image I have of this distant country has been built for many years. Over the course of the readings but above all of the films and directors who were kind enough to reveal behaviours, places and customs, I built an imagination. Once passed through many gantries and boarding areas. I was there, with my Western eyes, and my shaped eye was looking to recognize what I had seen so much.

Plus qu’une confrontation est présenté dans Seiyō no me un dialogue entre la représentation d’une culture et sa découverte effective. Le Japon a une identité forte, l’image que je me suis fais de ce pays lointain à été construite durant de nombreuses années. Au fil des lectures mais surtout des films et des réalisateurs qui ont bien voulu laisser transparaître des comportements, des lieux et des coutumes j’ai construit un imaginaire. Une fois passé à travers de nombreux portiques et hall d’embarquement. J’étais là, avec mon regard d’occidental, et mon oeil façonné cherchait à reconnaitre ce que j’avais tant vu.
